How do I get started?
Each student at DGI begins with an evaluation. This is a session in which we collect all kinds of data relevant to developing your training program. You can schedule an evaluation by sending an email or calling 773-316-6693.
Do you teach beginners?
Yes. We teach any golfer that has a desire to learn how to play, or learn to play better.
I already work with an instructor, how can DGI help me?
Our goal is to help golfers perform at a higher level. For those who work with an instructor already, DGI will become part of their team. We will focus solely on the physical component of your training and how your body can perform more efficiently.
Can my instructor join me?
Yes! In fact we encourage it. As the fitness expert on your team, our goal is to support your instructor and what he/she is trying to accomplish with you. Communication between all parties involved is critical to your success.
What is a typical DGI Golf Performance Training session like?
A typical session will include a warm up with some stretches and hitting some shots. We then analyze the swing on video from down the line and face-on views. Once we determine the focus for the day, we train the movement that we need in the swing with motor programming. This could include static and dynamic balance work, resistance band strengthening, leaderboard stability work, medicine ball drills in the mirror, flexibility work in our stretch cage, etc. We usually intermingle training drills, a variety of physical training activities, and hitting balls. This process allows the body to feel and do the positions we are striving for in the golf swing. We call this the FEEL-DO method. Our experience has proven that the FEEL-DO method is far superior than having the golfer try to remember a list of swing thoughts. This allows the golf swing to be motor programmed by the body instead of remembered by the brain.
